Druckfarben at the Mod Club

Canadian Prog Rock band Druckfarben played at the Virgin Mobile Mod Club Thursday night and performed their debut album, "Druckfarben" live. It was a great show and in spite of the mist in the air from the fog machines, I managed to get some half decent photos.

Druckfarben are Phil Naro (centre) Ed Bernard (left)bassist Peter Murray (right) ,
drummer Troy Feener and keyboardist William Hare.

Multi-instrumentalist Ed Bernard on his customized guitar.

Ed Bernard on mandolin.

Ed Bernard on electric violin, accompanied by lead singer Phil Naro on semi-acoustic guitar.

Needle Felted Chickadee

I discovered that making birds in wool felt is a lot more difficult than making mammals.
The feet are tricky and it's not easy to imitate feathers. I think I'll continue with mammals.

Needle Felted Yak

Here's my latest little felt creature...a Yak.....also known as Bos Grunniens.......which some people refer to as "Boss Grunnies".......or an old boyfriend of mine used to call "Gross Bunnies" when we would visit them at the High Park Zoo. We would feed them carrots, which I recently read is something they really like.

This one is grey but he looks sort of blue in these photos. The ones at the High Park Zoo were black and brown. I made his horns and eyes out of Sculpey and his body is blended Shetland and Corriedale wools over a pipe cleaner armature.

Glass FIRE!

Many times I've gone past here and always meant to photograph this beautiful hand blown glass sculpture of Fire. The "flames" all have little lights in them and they look amazing against their black background.

The Fire sculpture is just outside a restaurant in this building downtown:

Sad Old House Photos

Update....THESE are probably the last photos I'll ever take of this house. It's almost entirely collapsed in on itself.

Well.....I think these photos speak for themselves that they may well indeed be the last ones I take of this poor old crumbling house. By an eerie coincidence, when we stopped the car to take the photos, another car was parked there and a man was getting out, eyeing me suspiciously. I told him I try to photograph this house every year and he said ,"It's my house." I replied, "REALLY?" (hoping that maybe he would tell me a bit about it.....but he seemed to want to be left alone.) He took a couple of shots of it with his iPhone and turned to leave. I said, "I like photographing this house so much that I even made a gingerbread house of it." He said, "Are you interested in buying the property?" I said, "How much?" Then he just said, "It's not for sale." He went back to his car looking a bit lost in thought and sad. My guess is he inherited the property from a deceased relative and was going to hang onto it for sentimental reasons, and was sad to see what years of neglect had done to the house that he probably grew up in. That's my guess, anyway.

Old House Gingerbread

And here's a photo for comparison.......and here it is in the daylight. Those other photos were taken late at night.
