It's that time of year again! My favorite time of year! I'm working frantically on my costume, but I don't have any photos of it yet.
So I just thought I'd post this shirt I painted a couple of years ago of a Muertos skeleton.....a calaveras actually, from a ceramic tile I saw for Mexican Dia des los Muertos.
I've been fascinated with that holiday ever since I read about it in a National Geographic in the 70's. I loved the fact that the Mexican people made special bread and sugar skulls and miniature skeletons doing things that live people would do. So around this time of year, I dig out this shirt and start wearing it!Unfortunately, the acrylic paint I used is crackling now. Although it looks really cool, I'm afraid it's going to start flaking off. So I thought I should photograph it and show it off before it disintegrates.
I'll be posting my costume soon!

there are stores in town that sell the sugar skulls..there was a mexican store on Carlton at Parliament a few years back (not sure if it's still there)
...but being the craftwoman you are I'm sure you'll make your own
I don't think I can. I have to find a real job soon. I'm thinking of leaving the animation industry FOR GOOD! Being laid off gives me time to make things, but no money to buy supplies!
